Welcome to the Peripheral Vascular surgical Society (PVSS) website. It has been recently reconfigured to better serve the needs of the young vascular surgeon and their patients.
The PVSS is now in its 31st year, being formed in 1976. The organization exists to further the science and art of vascular and endovascular surgery through education, scholarship, advocacy and dissemination of original research. A unique aspect of the PVSS organization is its commitment to the younger vascular surgeon; an active member must be no more than 12 years from completion of their fellowship training. As such, our membership has an exceptionally high penetrance of progressive vascular specialists who can provide the best in endovascular, open and medical therapy for vascular disease. The current organization boasts greater than 830 active and senior members and continues to grow. The membership consists of a good mix of both academic and private practice vascular surgeons that provides an excellent balance at the bi-annual scientific meetings.
The summer meeting is an integral part of the Vascular Annual Meeting held in early June in conjunction with the Society for Vascular Surgery and other leading vascular organizations. The peer reviewed presentations are followed by invited discussants that help to further stimulate the audience involvement. Manuscripts from this meeting are submitted to the Journal of Vascular Surgery for consideration. The next meeting will be held June 5-8th 2008 in San Diego.
Our winter meeting combines excellent science with the opportunity for wintertime recreation. The peer reviewed papers are submitted to the Annals of Vascular Surgery for consideration for publication. This scientific portion of this meeting has been particularly competitive for the past 5 years, providing excellent presentations and lively discussion by the members and guests. Many attendees elect to bring their family and children to this meeting. The next winter meeting will be held Feb 1-3rd, 2008 at Snowmass Village, Colorado.
On behalf of the executive committee, we encourage you to become involved in this vibrant vascular society.
Sincerely yours,
W. Charles Sternbergh III, MD, FACS
President, PVSS
